Statue of Liberty - America's First Lady

Officially named the "Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World," this iconic New York landmark was designed by artist Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi and was offered as a gift of friendship to the people of the United States from the people of France. Hop aboard a ferry to the island and enjoy a cruise through Hudson Bay, past lower Manhattan and Ellis Island. Explore the grounds with a self-guided audio tour or join up with a National Park Service guide for a closer look at the statue and grounds. Visit the museum to learn more about the monument's history, then climb 146 steps up the narrow spiral staircase to the statue's crown. Make sure to stop by the gift shop for fun souvenirs and mementos of your visit. No visit to NYC is complete without seeing the Statue of Liberty - it hosts more than four million visitors each year. Prices -

 Ferry fees are $18 adults (13+), $14 seniors (65 ) and $9 children (4-12). Children under 4 ride free. Park and pedestal entry is free but crown access is an additional $3 per person (reservations required). Children must be at least 4 feet tall to visit the crown.

Hours -

 Liberty Island ferries leaves departure points starting at 9am. The last return ferry departs at 5pm. Ferry hours are extended during the summer month. For the most current admission prices and hours, visit the website.

  • Can you bring food with you to the Statue of Liberty?

    Yes, sealed food and beverages are allowed on the ferries and Liberty Island. Lawns, benches and picnic areas are located around the island. All backpacks, food and drinks must be secured in visitor lockers at the security tent area before entering the Pedestal and the Statue. Please note that coolers are not allowed on the ferry or island. Visitors can also skip the hassle of bringing food and enjoy dining at the island's restaurant.
  • Can you get to the Statue of Liberty via ferry?

    If you wish to visit Liberty Island and see the Statue of Liberty, you must ride a ferry to get there. Ferry rides take about 15-20 minutes each way and depart from Battery Park and Liberty State Park. Ferry tickets are available online, at ferry departure points or by calling 1-877-LADY-TIX. If you plan to visit during the busy summer months, you should purchase your tickets in advance to avoid long lines and ticket sell-outs.
