Rose Theater 2020-2021
What to expect
Legendary Cuban vocalist Omara Portuondo is an international icon best known in the United States as a member of the Buena Vista Social Club. For two nights only at Jazz at Lincoln Center, she graces the Rose Theater stage for a 90th birthday celebration.
Though Portuondo recently completed her Ultimo Beso tour—her “last kiss” to worldwide tours—she still gives fans special opportunities to experience her magic in person. And, as ever, she makes sure they’re singing, dancing, and having a good time.
To great acclaim, Portuondo continues to perform a wide-reaching repertoire of classics and personal favorites, demonstrating the musical breadth of Cuba through Afro-Cuban jazz, guajira, danzón, cha-cha-chá, trova Cubana, son Cubano, and famously romantic boleros. Her band stands out at an equally high level, playing these varied styles and beyond with joy, grace, and authenticity.
Anyone interested in seeing the living legend herself while she’s here in New York City should consider this an absolute must-see performance.Visitor Info
