Afro-Peruvian Ensemble The all-star ensemble launches the summer amphitheater series on July 9 at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7:30 for free seating on a first-come, first-served basis. The ensemble's repertoire includes uplifting festejos and zamacuecas, dazzling Peruvian waltzes and hypnotic landos, as well as the contrapunto de Cajones (box drum counterpoint) and contrapunto de Zapateo (tap dancing competition)—classics of Afro-Peruvian folklore rarely seen in the US. Also, free admission to the museum on Fridays and Saturdays, 5-7 p.m., through Aug. 28; free planetarium shows at 6 beginning July 16; free parking.
