Winner of 9 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, The Book of Mormon is a must-see musical on any Broadway lovers list. Originated by South Park creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, this blockbuster show features spectacular dance numbers and praiseworthy ensemble singing. The Book of Mormon opened in 2011 to much critical acclaim and was touted by Entertainment Weekly as a "spectacular, rather perfect Broadway musical."
The story follows two Mormon missionaries as they travel to Uganda to convert the locals to the Mormon religion. The narrative entertains the audience by lightheartedly poking fun at religion, poverty, race, and sexuality. Sometimes funny, sometimes poignant and often offensive, The Book of Mormon reinvents the classic musical by incorporating social commentary into a twisted plot filled with big song-and-dance numbers.
The Book of Mormon is currently playing at the historic Eugene O'Neill Theatre, located at 230 West 49th Street in midtown Manhattan. Ticket prices start at $99 per person.
