Improving Food Security Through Gardening Webinar

The COVID-19 pandemic brought attention to food insecurity in the region. According to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, food insecurity grew more than 50% and increased more than 75% for children in the Garden State. The Northern NJ Community Foundation's environment focus area invites the public to watch and learn what they can do personally in their own gardens, locally, and regionally to address food insecurity. Panelists: Bergen County Commissioner Tracy Zur from the Bergen County Food Security Task Force; Tobias Fox, Newark Science and Sustainability; Melanie McDermott, Sustainable Jersey; Chantelle Walker, Greens Do Good; Gary Oppenheimer, AmpleHarvest.org - Connect gardeners and food pantries to eliminate food waste and improve food security.
